Reading Response: I am reading a book called Switched. It is a series called My sister is a vampire. There is a girl name Olivia who moves to a new city and goes to a different school. At school she gets sent to the Principal's office for wandering the halls. Then she meets a girl name Ivy in the Principal's office. I can't wait to read on.
The setting of the story is at school and cheerleading practice. Some people are wearing Gothic clothes at school so Olivia does not know who the vampire is yet. I think the setting is important because everything takes place at the school so far.
Teacher Choice: Whose point of view are the major events examined through? How would the plot change if the story were told through another characters perspective? This story is told by Olivia's point of view. Because I she says "I" when she describe's things. If another character was telling the story, they would say something different. For example, the cheerleading rules. Ivy did not agree with Charlotte in her mind but she did not say anything. So if Ivy was the story, she probably would have said something.

Title of Book: How to Twist a Dragon’s Tale Author: Cressida Cowell Genre: Adventure Date: September 24, 2008 Began: Page 1 End: Page 66
Reading Response: The genre of the book is adventure. A reason why I think that’s a good genre for the book is because they travel to different places from place to place, from the Isle of Berk to the Dragon Islands. Another reason is because they do a lot of adventuring and a lot of the characters are brave and want to do things to become real Vikings. The characters risk their lives to become better than what they are. Snotface Snotlout I a very mean guy and he doesn’t like Hiccup and Fishlegs because he thinks they are stupid to try to become Vikings. He also acts very tough, and he doesn’t change at all. Toothless is Hiccup’s dragon and he is weak and has no power at the start but through the story he becomes brave and risks his life to save Hiccup and is successful. Another person that changes is Fishlegs, he is like Hiccup and he is Hiccup’s friend. He is sort of stupid though, and he comes more smart.
Teacher Choice: Hiccup Horrendous is the one who is telling the story. It is exciting when he tells it because he is not just telling the story, but he is a character and he is talking to his dragon and other characters and getting in fights. If Snotlout told the story he would be the main character of the book and would save everyone. He would talk about Hiccup that he’s not a real Viking and stupid and that he will die on the voyage. He would also say that Hiccup’s dragon. Toothless, was useless and only a stupid garden dragon that can’t hunt at all. Snotlout would also say that he is the best Viking ever and it wouldn’t be very fun to read because he would be talking about how great he is all the time.
to:Ranya I think Vaishing is a great book so far. Sounds like the type of book you would read but I do think it's sad she as bronchitas, but Ithink it's very interesting. Can't wait to see what happens next.
From: Jonathan Title of Book: The Quillan Games (Pendragon Series) Author: DJ MacHale Genre: Science Fiction Date: Week of September 22, 2008 Began: 1 End: 405
Reading Response: I am reading a book called The Quillan Games which is book #7 in a series called The Pendragon Series. In the previous books, Bobby Pendragon thought he was an ordinary boy who turns out to be the Lead Traveler. A traveler is a person who can travel through the flumes (which are holes in a rock cliff) that take you to different times and worlds. He tries to save the worlds from Saint Dane, a demon who tries to make the worlds crumble.
In this world people are on the brink of survival. They bet on games for food. If they lose they are sent away to Tarz which is a mine that has toxins in the dust and they die. What type of games you ask? Ones where people fight to the death! In the part I just read, Bobby learned that the people who hosted the games were from another world that he had failed to save! It's pretty confusing right now because I'm still in the middle of the book.
Teacher Choice: A big part in this story is how characters reacted which led to the plot of the story. The main character is Bobby Pendragon. He did some actions that made other characters change their behavior. One example occurred when he made LaBarge, one of the hosts of the games (who Bobby thinks is a wimp), cry by speaking sternly. LeBarge called in security robots and almost got Bobby killed. This shows that Bobby influenced the actions of LeBarge.
Bobby's actions also made a big part in the plot of the story because Bobby made the choice to compete in GrandX (the most popular game) which I think is going to save the world. Even though I'm not done with the book, I'm sure that this decision is going to make a huge difference in the outcome of the story.
Nice job. I like the part at the end. It was funny because Snotlout would tell a bad story and not be a good story teller. Is the book you're reading a series? I think I might want to read it.
I am reading a book called Holes. It's about this boy named stanley and he has to go to a special camp for boys that did a crime. Stanley goes there and meets all the boys with nicknames. Like Lump, Squid, and Armpit. The one that i sthe most different is Zero. He doesn't know how to do anything so stanley teaches him and they have a deal. If stanley teaches him, zero will dig part of the holes for stanley.(because, for a punishment, they dig holes) they do that for come time, but it leads to trouble and Zero runs away from the camp. Stanley follows him and together, they make it through and find a suitcase. Then the warden, the person in charge of the camp, finds them and stanley's lawyer comes to the rescue and free Zero and Stanley. The suitcase is full of jewels and they go back to their normal lives.
I am reading a book called Diary of a Whipmy Kid. It is #2 in a series of three. It is a funny book about a boy named Greg and his family. He has one mean brother, Rodrik, who teases him all the time. If Rodrik told the story it would probably be different because he wouold probably say that his younger brother, Greg, is a brat and that is why he picks on him. The reader also learns a lot about how Greg's younger brother gets picked on by some kids at school. Greg just lets this happen to his brother.and also Greg's father has a display of the Cival War set in the basement and he does not let any one thouch it at all. I think that Greg will end up touching it and breaking it. He is always getting in trouble for something.
Anna, I abasolutely loved reading Holes. It was so interesting the way Stanley seemed to transform from the beginning of the story to the end. Have you thought about what the theme of the book may be?
jonathan I really think I should try to get that book to you it's realley funny and exciting.it really sounds like one of those book's you read during literacy hope I get to you some time. It's a book of 7 books.
Title of book: The Lightning Thief Author: Rick Riordan Genre: Fiction Date: 9/25/08 Began: Page 1 End: Page 122
Reading Response: I am reading The Lightning Thief and it is from a series called Percy Jakson and the Olympians. The genre of the book is teen fiction. I think it's fiction because it tells about a boy named Percy Jackson and his friends at Camp Half-Blood where they are kept safe from monsters that are trying to kill them because they are sons and daughters of the Olympian Gods. It starts out with Percy and his classmates during a field trip to a museum. His math teacher turns into a creepy monster and tries to attack him. From there, Percy gets tossed a pen that turns into a sword and had unknown strength to defeat the monster. From there he realizes that some ancient Greek monsters are trying to kill him.
The setting that I'm at right now is Camp Half-blood in Long Island, New York on a hill near a forest. This is where Percy finds a lot of his own kind, which are half-bloods. These are people whose parents are a God and a human.
Teacher's choice: The main point of view is from Percy. He tells of his adventures at Camp with his friends. Percy is the son of a God and is the main character because all of the adventures include him in it. If this were told by his friend Grover, he would of told of him finding Percy and protecting him.

Reading Response:I am reading a book called Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It's about a boy named Harry Potter who is going to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for his second year.
Strange things are happening at Hogwarts. Student are found petrified everywhere including Hermione, one Harry's friend. Ginny Weasley,Ron's little sister, has been taken down to the Chamber of Secrets. Professor Lockhart was suppose to go save Ginny that night but ended up runing away. What will Harry do? I can't wait to find out.
Teacher's Choice:Whose point view are the major events examined through? How would the plot change if the story were told through another characters perspective?
I am not sure who's telling the story because if Harry was telling the story from his point of view he would say "I" instead of his name. If someone else told the story from there point of view it would be totally different. For example, if Ron was telling the story from his point of view the book would say something like "I didn't want to go to the forbidden forest but Harry said we should so we ended up going," or something along that line.
I am currently reading a book called DIARY OF A WIMPY KID.It is a boy named greg heffley that always gets teased by his brother.Rodrick His brother, always gets his way and always blames greg for what he does.Oh yah,did I mention he has a diary! His mother bought him one and when rodrick found out,he punched him and called him a sissy.I think its kind harsh but,its ok! -Andrew Penner
Title of book: Sing Down the Moon Author: Scott O' Dell Genre: Historical Fiction Date: September 27,2008 Began: Page1 End: Page68 Reading Response: I'm reading a book called Sing Down the Moon. This story is told from the point of view of a young Navaho girl named Bright Morning. In the beginning she and her friend Running Bird were out doing chores. They were captured by Spainiards and sold at a market. They were separated for almost a month until they decided to escape. They left on stolen horses. The girls were able to make it back to their tribe. This is where I read to. The story takes place in the mid 1860's in New Mexico. The author talks about valleys, trails, rivers and mountains. These descriptions help me see the indian village like it could have been.I think because the author is telling the story through a Navaho girls point of view he is trying to describe Indian life.
When Bright Morning escaped the spainish settlement she had changed the outcome completely. If she hadn't she wouldn't have seen her family ever again. She also would have been in the spainish settlement the rest of her life. Because of Bright Morning Running Bird was freed. If Bright Morning hadn't helped her she wouldn't have gotten home either.Running Bird hated the settlement and was glad to return.
From:Varun Title: Sea of Trolls Author:Nancy Farmer Date: September 27,2008 The book that i am reading is sea of trolls. I can tell the genre is mythological fiction because it involves lots of magic. The author even tells about a bard. Another clue that tells me that the genre of this book is mythological fiction is that the author says that the main character,Jack, tries to light a fire in the snow using magic. This book also refers to magical creatures such as trolls.
Title of Book: The Babysitting Wars Author: Mimi McCay Genre: Realistic Fiction Date: September 27, 2008 Began reading: PAGE 1 Ended Reading: Page 164
Reading Response: I'm reading a great book called The Babysitting Wars. It is about a girl named Kaitlyn who love to babysit.Soon a girl named Nola moves near Kaitlyn and also loves to babysit.Nola is trying hard to get all of Kaitlyn's customers that she babysits for.The War is on!
In the Babysitting Wars Kaitlyn became a lot meaner to all of the kids she babysits for. Nola, on the other hand, is all sweet and nice to the kids so now Kaitlyn is getting mad and loosing all of the kid that she babysits for. Nola is getting Kaitlyn to babysit for all parents that have wild kids. I hope you read The Babysitting Wars.
Teachers Choice: Kailyn's actions affected the outcome of The Babysitting Wars. If Kaitlyn wasn't mean she would not have lost all of her customers. If Kaitlyn would not have lost her customers she wouldn't have gotten mad and upset. Perhaps if Kaitlyn was kind and friendly she might have become very good friends with Nola.
Kaitlyn has two other friends who were named Leisel and Maggie. One day when Kaitlyn was babysitting the child was very bad. Kaitlyn was not allowed to yell at him. Her friends, including Nola, came to helllp her out. After things calmed down the four girls then talked things out and eventually all became friends again. -Sam

Title: Go Eat Worms Author: R. L. Stine Genre: Horror Date: September 22, 2008 Began: Page 43 End: Page 119
Reading Response:
I think that the underlying message of the author is that you should not be mean to others or they will try and get back at you. When I take toys from my brother, then he takes them other toys from me and it goes on and on and on.
The genre of the book is horror because it is scary. When Todd, the main character cut a worm in half, the mother worm which is big as a building tried to squeeze him. When Todd was being squeezed, I felt like I was being squeezed.
Teacher Choice:
When Todd cut the worm in half then the mother worm tried to kill him. When Todd was mean to his sister by giving her worms all the time, she tried to get back at him with worm tricks just like he did. This is how the actions of the characters affected the outcome of the story.
a) A character of Which Witch that turned out sweet so badly wants to be black. The witches name is Bell-adona,she is a white witch which means she's a good witch.Bellado- na ends up getting black powers when she got older. She was happy because she was the only white witch were she lives so Belladona wanted to be like the rest of the witches,be black and she did. The only quetion is if she can hold on to her black, will she keep it or lose it? e) The setting are importent to this book because there is a specil event in their first big setting-Todcaster,were the characters live(of mostly close by).A great wizrd and powerful one to is named Arriman and he is having a special tornement for the blackest witches that live in Todcaster. Right there is were you need to have a good setting because can have the setting on a island or Paris? No! that is why the author chose to make the main setting a old massion with labertorys, a ghost, and 7 black witches. book name:Which Witch genre:Fantasy date:9/26/08 begin:page1 end:page162

Title:Peak Author:Roland Smith Genre:Realistic Fiction Date: September 30,2008 The book that i read was peak. This book has a main underlying message, it is try harder and you will reach your goals. In this book Peak a 14 year old boy goes to climb Mt.Everest with his dad. Peak's dad is a famous climber. Peak has a hard time getting up the mountain but when he trys hardest he makes it to the summit. Peak also believes in himself. I believe the author wrote this book because he wanted to inspire people. The way i figured out that the message was from the text. For example the author says Peak has a hard time breathing and is pooped out but still he makes it to the summit. I recommend this book to anyone that wants to hear about an inspiring adventure. And who knows maybe one day you will be climbing Everest.

Title of book : The Incredbile Journey Author: Sheila Burnford Genre: Realistic Fiction Began: page 1 End: page 109
Reading Response: I'm reading a book called The Incredible Journey. It is about a trio of animals traveling across Canada. Their leader is a young labrador who is having some bad luck. There is little food, he is tired and he has gotten quills stuck in his face from a porcupine! The old man is a bull terrier who is keeping his pace and his health. The cat, who I think is the best of the bunch is happy and content. The setting of the story is important because if the author didn't describe it you might not understand what the animals are going through. The animals are crossing hard country from the grassy plains to the rapids. One time the author explains how the cat escapes a lynx by running from a meadow into a thick tree filled area. Teacher's Choice: The labrador help the outcome of the story because he thought if they went west they could get back home. If he wouldn't have guided the other animals the outcome might have been different. That was important. The point of view the story is told through is probably 3rd position. The way it sounds as though someone is watching a show. It is like this through out the entire story. I think if it were told through the cat's point of view he would have described it as a easier more relaxing journey.
I think the girl named Gwendolyn, at first she was a humun being but then Count Nightwing brong her to his castle and then bit her on the neck which turned her into a vampire too! But the two charrecters who also got brung by Count Nightwing named Freddy and Cara didn't get bitten right now. The experiences of Freddy and Cara are being brong to the castle with no way out. And for Gwendolyn its for turning into a vampire. The authors image was Freddy falling off a cliff and then a huge bat (who was Count Nightwing) saved him. Some of the language the author used to descibe is his charrecter said "I see some rocks, but they are miles down. And it looks like there is no bottom," Freddy said hanging on to the ledge. Then his hands slip and then he falls. Then a huge bat comes and swoops him up. The Major events are examined through Freddy. The stories plot would change if the person who was telling the story was Cara because she might tell the story differently, by her perspective.

title:rising storm author: Erin Hunter started:1 ended:73 In my book the setting is very important because the characters ,which are cats, depend on their forest setting to catch prey. If they did not have this setting the book would make no sense. For example in this book if the cats lived in a house setting they could not catch prey. The setting for some books like attack of the road weenies does not matter at all.
The book I'm reading is The Tail of Emily Windsnap,by Liz Kelleser. This is a fantasy story. THe message the author is giving so far is that friends can come in all different shapes and sizes. Title: You Can't Scare Me Author: R. L. Stine Genre: Horror Date: 10-6-08 Began: Page 1 End: Page 82
Reading Response:
The setting is in the woods. The importance of the setting is that the woods is a scary place to be when you are alone with your friends. The woods are muddy, cold, and it is in the afternoon when mud monsters come.
The underlying message might be that you should never go in the woods alone with your friends because if you do you might see creepy stuff.
Teacher Choice:
Some of the characters went into the woods to try to scare Cortney and Diane. The monsters came and scared them all.
The tail of Emily Windsnap was a great book. This weekend I finished the book, pages 1-206
This story has mermaids and a swimming pool for a classroom. This setting is very important because it’s a whole different world than ours. For one they live in the water and have a cruel king. They have many challenges and hard decisions.
I think this is a fantasy because there are mermaids and sea creatures that don't exist. Also this story is very obvious to see that its fantasy, people tuning into mermaids. I can't wait to read the next book!

Reading Response: Zanna touches the bear and then there is a spell on her. The spell is to make Zanna give something to the evil witch that makes her even more powerful than she is. David does not change so far in the book.
The genre of the book is fantasy because it has a lot of magical things.
Teacher's Choice: David is the one who writes the story which comes to life. If Zanna wrote the story she would probably write the story differently and then different things would come to life.
I am beginning to finish my book but actually is just to tell the public about how one of the world's best computer company came to be. To think, when Bill Hewlett and David Packard met, they began to make experiments and then years later started a computer company.
Question B:
I think the authors main message is that was just to show the public how simply such sucesful company was created.
My book is about a teen spy who is trying to find out what happended after he finds out that his dad way have been part of a assassination group called "Scorpia".
Question#1
I think that one of the characters in the story that doesn't change is Alex who is the main characters.I think this because he never stops being curious about what happened to his father and why.

Title of book: Fire Star Auther: chris D'Lacey Genre: Fantasy Date: October 20,2008 Began: 191 End: 268 Reading Response: The Genre of the book is Fantasy because the book has magicle stuff like dragons. The auther evoked how David made a real life dragon from clay! The auther described the dragon on how it looked like and the shape of it. It really felt like I was in the book looking right at it! Teachers choice: The actions of Zanna affected the outcome of the story by when the evil bears came and took her, because when this Inuk named Tootega came Zanna had powers that she never had before. Her actions affected other characters because she showed a clue to maybe where the Fire Star (lead dragon) is. danielle

Title Of Book: Fire Star Author: Chris D'Lacey Genre: Fantasy Date: 10/24/08 Began: Page 269 End: Page 406
Reading Response The character that changes is this guy named Aurther because he was on a date with Elizabeth. Then one day he saw that Elizabeth had a baby so he thought that she was married but she really wasn't. So he tried to kill himself, then he turned into a Monk so he can make piece with himself.
David does not change because he is still trying to save the world from it wrecking from this evil sybil(Demon) named Gwilanna.
The importance to the setting of this story is the tone of these evil things attacking from David's story because his story becomes real life!
Teacher's Choice: David's action affected the outcome of the story because if he never wrote the story, then his planet would not be destroyed in a couple of days!
David's action of writing the story affected the other characters because some of his family are disappearing just from his simple story.
Tittle of book: Fire Star Auther: chris D'Lacey Genre: Fantasy Date: 11-3-08 Began: 473 End: 548 Reading Response: The authers underlying message is do not give up on things that are hard because David thought he could do nothing to save the world. But, at the end of the story David got to the point where he saved the world because he never gave up. The importance of the setting to the story is the story that David made up, because the whole story he made came to real life. So if he didn't make up the story none of it would have happend. Teachers choice: The literary devices used to develop the story line was the story David wrote. He helped advance the story line because he made his story like you are in the story to. danielle
Tittle: The chronicles of Narnia The Horse and his boy Auther: C.S. Lewis Genre: Fantasy Date:11-10-08 Began: 1 End:136 Reading Response: In the book, Shasta changes his feelings to scared because the Narnians think that he is Prince Corin so they tell him there plans. So Shasta thinks that if he tells them who he is then they will kill him. And if the real Prince shows up he will also be dead. The ones that don't change are Aravis Hwin and Bree because they are still trying to find Narnia. The Genre of the book is Fantasy becuase the creaters are not real and the animals talk. Teachers choice: The Major events are pointed through Shasta because the story is telling about his travels. If it were told through Aravises perspective it would be about her travels. danielle
Im reading the book called Ark Angel by Anthony Horowitz and it is great! Its about Alex Rider's adventure to stop a group of evil villians from stealing money to build the private hotel in SPACE! I think the character who never changes is Alex since he is always snooping aroud for trouble.
Varun Koganti 11/22/08 Seekers the quest begins Erin Hunter I am reading a book called Seekers. I think the theme is you can do anything if you believe in youreself. I am focusing this theme on one of the characters Kallik. Kallik , a polar bear cub is left in the harsh arctic wilderness to fight for herself when her mother dies. Kallik has to find land and adapt to it before all the ice melts. At first she thinks she cannot do it but she realizes that she has to do it to live. Kallik believes in herself and finally she reaches land. I can relate this book to Hatchet where Brian a boy gets in a plane crash and has to survive the Canadian wilderness. Kallik and Brian both face problems but when they believe in theirselves, they finally accomplish their goal. I also identified the genre of this book as realistic fiction. I think the story would change if one of the characters told it because they would all state their point of view. Also if one character didn't agree with another they might tell the story differently.
Tittle:The chronicles of Nania "The horse and his boy" Aurthor: C.S. Lewis Genre: Fantasy Date: 11-17-08 Began: 173 End:241 Reading Response: The underlying message is to not give up because Bree wanted to give up in finding Narnia, and just go back to where he was a slave. But his freinds did not want him to give up so,he kept on going. The importance of the setting to the story, is that the chacters are trying to find Narnia. They are trying to find Narnia for Bree because when he was a foal he got stolen from Narnia. Teachers Choice: Shasta affected the outcome of the story because at the end he turned out to be a prince. As for before he thought he was a poor person. His actions affected other characters because he helped Bree get to Narnia safely without anyone noticing he looked like a stray horse and then capture him. Because if Shasta didn't help Bree, Bree would stay as a slave horse.
I am read "The Series Of Unfortunate Events"by Lemony Snicket. It is about the young Baudelaire children when they find out that their parent died in a house fire and get sent to their "evil" foster father Count Olaf.
Tittle: The Fire Eternal Author: chris D'Lacey Genre: Fantasy Date: 12-1-08 Began:1 End:145 Reading Response: In the book Bonnington (a weird creature) changes because, before he never could shape shift, but now he can. Ingavar doesn't change because he is still trying to save the world. The genre of my book is Fantasy because there are mystical creatures that are not real. The characters come back to life after they are dead. And some of the characters turn into animals. Teachers choice: The point of veiw is examined through Zanna because she is the one telling the story of what is happening. She is also writing a letter to David (the person who died at the end of the third book "Fire Star") even though he might be dead. (because he's been gone for so long) If it were told through Davids perspective it would have been about where he is. And what he is doing.
To:eric Nice job! You make me want to read the book. I like the part where he gets a pen and makes it into a sword, and killed the monster as you said. danielle
Tittle: The Fire Eternal Author: chris D'Lacey Genre: Fantasy Date: 12-8-08 Began: 185 End: 273 Reading Response: The image that the author evoked was the fight between Ingavar (David) and the evil bird husband. ( who's the sea goddeses husband) Because when they were in the fight I felt like I was in the story watching the fight for real. And that I saw David change into the Oomara person who is very powerful. The importance of the setting to the story is the mystical creatures. They are the important part because if there were no mystical creatures the setting would not be how it is, fantasy. Some of the creatures are dragons, talking animals, and shape shifters. Teachers choice: Ingavar and the other characters are trying to go somewhere to put the dragon eye in to save the arctic from global warming. But they keep going in circles.
The book i am reading is called Stormbreaker which is by Anthony Horowitz and is the first book in the Alex Rider series. It is about 14 year old Alex Rider who finds out about the unknown cause of the assassination of his uncle Ian Rider.
“True Power comes from focusing on what we can give, not just on what we can take.
Of the gifts that we can give, the greatest is to see beauty in each other - in essence, to Give beauty to each other. When we give the beauty, we prepare our hearts to receive it back.

Author: Sienna Mercer
Genre: Teen fictiion
Date: September 25, 2008
Reading Response: I am reading a book called Switched. It is a series called My sister is a vampire. There is a girl name Olivia who moves to a new city and goes to a different school. At school she gets sent to the Principal's office for wandering the halls. Then she meets a girl name Ivy in the Principal's office. I can't wait to read on.
The setting of the story is at school and cheerleading practice. Some people are wearing Gothic clothes at school so Olivia does not know who the vampire is yet. I think the setting is important because everything takes place at the school so far.
Teacher Choice:
Whose point of view are the major events examined through? How would the plot change if the story were told through another characters perspective?
This story is told by Olivia's point of view. Because I she says "I" when she describe's things.
If another character was telling the story, they would say something different. For example, the cheerleading rules. Ivy did not agree with Charlotte in her mind but she did not say anything. So if Ivy was the story, she probably would have said something.

Title of Book: How to Twist a Dragon’s Tale
Author: Cressida Cowell
Genre: Adventure
Date: September 24, 2008
Began: Page 1
End: Page 66

Title of Book: The Quillan Games (Pendragon Series)
Author: DJ MacHale
Genre: Science Fiction
Date: Week of September 22, 2008
Began: 1
End: 405
Reading Response:
I am reading a book called The Quillan Games which is book #7 in a series called The Pendragon Series.
Teacher Choice:
A big part in this story is how characters reacted which led to the plot of the story.
Tylerc,
Nice job. I like the part at the end. It was funny because Snotlout would tell a bad story and not be a good story teller. Is the book you're reading a series? I think I might want to read it.
I am reading a book called Holes.
It's about this boy named stanley
and he has to go to a special camp for boys that did a crime. Stanley
goes there and meets all the boys with nicknames.

Ranya, that is a great summary of the characters conflict. What genre is this book it sounds awesome. Where is the setting of the book?
Nice Job Skylar, so the setting must be important to the whole story then. Is this a modern day story or is it an older version?
Anna, I abasolutely loved reading Holes. It was so interesting the way Stanley seemed to transform from the beginning of the story to the end. Have you thought about what the theme of the book may be?

Title of book: The Lightning Thief
Author: Rick Riordan
Genre: Fiction
Date: 9/25/08
Began: Page 1
End: Page 122

End: Page68 Reading Response: I'm reading a book called Sing Down the Moon.
My teacher's choice response:
When Bright Morning escaped the spainish settlement she had changed the outcome completely. If she hadn't she wouldn't have seen her family ever again. She also would have been in the spainish settlement the rest of her life.
Because of Bright Morning Running Bird was freed. If Bright Morning hadn't helped her she wouldn't have gotten home either.Running Bird hated the settlement and was glad to return.

The book that i am reading is sea of trolls.
Your pendragon book sounds interesting JT. the genre is probaly mythological fiction right? Would you describe this book like a Harrry Potter book?

If Kaitlyn wasn't mean she would
not have lost all of her customers.

Title: Go Eat Worms
Author: R. L. Stine
Genre: Horror
Date: September 22, 2008
Began: Page 43

Title:Peak
Author:Roland Smith
Genre:Realistic Fiction
Date: September 30,2008
The book that i read was peak.

Title of book : The Incredbile Journey
Author: Sheila Burnford
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Began: page 1
End: page 109
Reading Response:
I'm reading a book called The Incredible Journey.
Teacher's Choice:
The labrador help the outcome of the story because he thought if they went west they could get back home.

And it looks like there is no bottom,"
Freddy said hanging on to the ledge. Then his hands slip and then he falls. Then a huge bat comes and swoops him up.
The Major events are examined through Freddy. The stories plot would change if the person who was telling the story was Cara because she might tell the story differently, by her perspective.

In my book the setting is very important because the characters ,which are cats, depend on their forest setting to catch prey. If they did not have this setting the book would make no sense. For example in this book if the cats lived in a house setting they could not catch prey. The setting for some books like attack of the road weenies does not matter at all.

Question#1
I think that one of the characters in the story that doesn't change is Alex who is the main characters.I think this because he never stops being curious about what happened to his father and why.

Genre: Fantasy

Reading Response:
The Genre of the book is Fantasy because the book has magicle stuff like dragons.
The auther evoked how David made a real life dragon from clay! The auther described the dragon on how it looked like and the shape of it. It really felt like I was in the book looking right at it!
Teachers choice:
The actions of Zanna affected the outcome of the story by when the evil bears came and took her, because when this Inuk named Tootega came Zanna had powers that she never had before. Her actions affected other characters because she showed a clue to maybe where the Fire Star (lead dragon) is.

The book that I am reading is called eldest it is the sequel of eragon which I am sure you have heard about. I think that the main character eragon changes a lot because in the begining of eragon he is a farm boy and now in eldest he is a sacred dragon rider. Eragon changes physically and also mentally.

Teachers Choice: I think that the the genre is spy because there is a very mysterious parts of the book so this is why I think this.

The character that changes is this guy named Aurther because he was on a date with Elizabeth.
Teacher's Choice:
David's action affected the outcome of the story because if he never wrote the story, then his planet would not be destroyed in a couple of days!
David's action of writing the story affected the other characters because some of his family are disappearing just from his simple story.

Reading Response:
The authers underlying message is do not give up on things that are hard because David thought he could do nothing to save the world. But, at the end of the story David got to the point where he saved the world because he never gave up.
The importance of the setting to the story is the story that David made up, because the whole story he made came to real life. So if he didn't make up the story none of it would have happend.
Teachers choice:
The literary devices used to develop the story line was the story David wrote.
He helped advance the story line because he made his story like you are in the story to.

Reading Response:
In the book, Shasta changes his feelings to scared because the Narnians think that he is Prince Corin so they tell him there plans.
Teachers choice:
The Major events are pointed through Shasta because the story is telling about his travels.
If it were told through Aravises perspective it would be about her travels.

Seekers the quest begins
Erin Hunter
I am reading a book called Seekers.

Good job! That's sad when your mother dies.

"The horse and his boy"
Aurthor: C.S. Lewis
Genre: Fantasy

End:241
Reading Response:
The underlying message is to not give up because Bree wanted to give up in finding Narnia, and just go back to where he was a slave. But his freinds did not want him to give up so,he kept on going.
The importance of the setting to the story, is that the chacters are trying to find Narnia. They are trying to find Narnia for Bree because when he was a foal he got stolen from Narnia.
Teachers Choice:
Shasta affected the outcome of the story because at the end he turned out to be a prince.

Tittle: The Fire Eternal
Author: chris D'Lacey
Genre: Fantasy
Date: 12-1-08
Began:1
End:145
Reading Response:
In the book Bonnington (a weird creature) changes because, before he never could shape shift, but now he can. Ingavar doesn't change because he is still trying to save the world.
The genre of my book is Fantasy because there are mystical creatures that are not real. The characters come back to life after they are dead. And some of the characters turn into animals.
Teachers choice:
The point of veiw is examined through Zanna because she is the one telling the story of what is happening. She is also writing a letter to David (the person who died at the end of the third book "Fire Star") even though he might be dead. (because he's been gone for so long)
If it were told through Davids perspective it would have been about where he is. And what he is doing.
To:eric
Nice job! You make me want to read the book. I like the part where he gets a pen and makes it into a sword, and killed the monster as you said.

Tittle: The Fire Eternal
Author: chris D'Lacey
Genre: Fantasy
Date: 12-8-08
Began: 185
End: 273
Reading Response:
The image that the author evoked was the fight between Ingavar (David) and the evil bird husband.
Teachers choice:
Ingavar and the other characters are trying to go somewhere to put the dragon eye in to save the arctic from global warming. But they keep going in circles.
The book i am reading is called Stormbreaker which is by Anthony Horowitz and is the first book in the Alex Rider series. It is about 14 year old Alex Rider who finds out about the unknown cause of the assassination of his uncle Ian Rider.
